Preparing for the New School Year

Nothing is better than a fresh start after the long summer vacation! Whether that includes stocking up on cute stationery, deciding on a workplan, taking new resolves regarding your studies, or looking forward to joining a club (tick all of the above for myself!), it's always exciting!
I am starting to look out for cute desk furnishing, and a few other items I was missing last year. I'm also  beyond the last stretch of both my eyeliner and my mascara, which have only lasted as long as they have because I keep adding water in them...

So yesterday I decided to go for a run, and coupled that with a trip to get some make-up. As I was checking out the clothes section, I thought about getting a nice shirt to do sports instead of my old sweater, and I was so lucky to find this for 5€! The perfect print, and a nice motivaton to keep moving to boot! Although it's so cute I probably won't want to workout in it.

I also purchased a new bottle of eyeliner. It is the cheap stuff, but 1) it's the only one I can find with a very thin brush rather than a felt/marker tip which I can't handle, and 2) it comes off with just water and doesn't need rubbing, which is bliss for my eyes and rather sensitive skin. (And it's cheap, if I hadn't mentioned that already).

The rabbit slippers I found when shopping with my mom at the supermarket. I tend to rely on the too-large hotel slippers my dad brings home from his travels, but they do so increase my natural inclination to trip over my own feet. I had some pink fluffy ones last year which were still available but these were so much cuter!
Overloaded much?~ Having fun with the tablet!

Changing the subject, last week-end, I held a booth at a local antiques/second-hand fair, selling old toys and clothes. I had intended to sell a few handmade items, but I forgot them the day of! So much for laying them out to take with me... The reason was, of course, that I was too preoccupied by fixing up my wig and make up. I wore my white Meta dress with my lavender wig, a flower crown from my friends in England, and a flower-printed vintage cardigan. People actually mistook me for a doll on sale whenever I stopped moving!

Unfortunately the weather was hot, but I was lucky I brought my parasol, and the neighboring booth  had a very large one which shadowed me as well. It was fun chatting with my neighbors, and I wish I had bought an adorable and very delicate, blue and gold tea-set from them, but a woman did right before I came. I was however, going to buy a little plushie from them, but they generously gave it to me instead! Isn't the lamb so cute? I don't have a name for him yet though. Any ideas?

Long time no see!

Well! What was supposed to be a short break turned out to be longer than expected.
So nice to see you again!
It's been quite a while since I've published anything, but I'm now back and more motivated than ever! I also had to transfer all my previous posts to this new blogger adress because of some spam/virus technical thing which I figured would take me longer to solve than simply switching over to a new adress. Since I had to do that before starting posting again, I kept procrastinating...
Now on to the news!
For the (almost) first time yesterday, I went out with my purple wig, which I was a little nervous about. I wear lolita daily but having never sported unnatural colored hair before, I was anxious to coordinate my outfit especially well. (No photos, unfortunately.) It was gratifying that three times that day, people came up to tell me they liked my style. It's so encouraging to have positive opinions about lolita in the street! One of them was from a little girl who said she wanted purple hair, so I assured her she could if she wanted; she was so cute! And for the first time two mainstream girls roughly my age were interested in lolita, and one boy even knew the name. I wish I had been less shy and told them how much I appreciated their genuine curiosity.
I've also just made this cute keychain to hang on my bag or purse! I went to my not-so-local craftstore to get 3D acrylic (which they didn't have in white, and disappointed me greatly), but when I saw this cute bunny in the pearls section, I knew I had to make something with it! The miniature ribbon was picked out from the last time I made a bunch, add some cute ribbon, and here's the result:

Carrousel Brooch

I just could not avoid sharing this adorable find!

Isn't it just so cute?
The fashion department is holding a second-hand and baking sale at the moment to finance their fashion week and as I was sifting through accessories I fell upon this brooch by chance. I can't believe how perfect it is for my carrousel skirt outfiit! I have lots of horse-related accessories so it's getting to be a great coordinate!
Well, that's all!

Of all the silly nonsense!

At long last I attended a lolita tea party!  I have dreamed of this for a long time now!
It was hosted by my friend Leanne for her birthday. It was so much fun enjoying tea and cakes (*pink icing!*) and chatting surrounded by pink and by frilly clothes! Everyone wore their best, it was just so perfect, right down to the cupcake stand! We'll do this more often!

Sweet Playlist - Continued

Continuing the playlist I started a little while back! Here's some more good music for you to enjoy:

Otsuka Ai - Sakuranbou
Crazy, sweet, cute, and upbeat song, just what we need for a good day! Unfortunately, I could't find a good video for this song, most have been deleted from YouTube, but do listen to it if you come across it!

The Unicorns - I Was Born ( A Unicorn)
Who doesn't wish for a song about unicorns? Without knowing them much, I have a feeling this band was pretty crazy! I also really enjoy other tracks from this album, there's a sort of messiness about the sound that I like.

Kyary Pamyu Pamyu - PONPONPON
Who by now doesn't know Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, fashion blogger turned celebrity? This is her single PONPONPON, released in 2011. The visuals are absolutely stunning, a psychedelic trip into kawaii culture full of vibrant colors, supporting Kyrary's cute voice and happy lyrics. The song alltogether is a perfect for when you're feeling ultra happy and energetic!

Tanaka Rie- Katakoto no Koi

The ending theme from Chobits is just so cute!

The Smittens - Half My Heart Beats
The Smittens are full of sweet and beautiful songs like these, gentle and kind. They are beautifully arranged and I love singing to them. We definitely need more of these simply cute songs!(Am I using the word 'cute' too much? Well, this is what the playlist is about, so I guess I'll not mention it anymore.)

LM.C - Sentimental Piggy Romance

LM.C! One of my favorite Japanese bands! Their songs are really lively and positive. There are two main members, Maya ( singer) and Aiji ( guitar)-there is also a  mohawked dancing skull you can see in some of their videos. They called their own style 'new century electrock', a mix between rock and electro pop.  The video suits the song very well, with its childish design. LM.C also has a second band called the Mad LM.C, where the roles are reversed and Maya plays the basse and Aiji sings.

Puffy - Atarashii Hibi

Puffy, or Puffy AmiYumi, has a very distinctive style which is hard to categorize but a lot of the songs I prefer have a ska influence to them, like K2G.

Supercell - Melt
Not only do I really like this song, I also admire this group which started out and became famous using Hatsune Miku for vocals, and brought popularity to the software. Now there are even Vocaloid concerts featuring their holograms! The group now has a singer, so check it out, it's really nice!

 Jay Chou - Princess Syndrome
I just recently discovered this song while reading Moar Lace please, and since it actually includes lolita in the PV, it could only feature in my playlist!

Tea cup surprise

Remember The Princess Diaries from way back when? Anne Hathaway discovers she's the heir to a small kingdom and has to turn into the perfect princess. Well, I felt like watching it again not so long ago, and about halfway through, I was astonished to see the characters drinking tea out of the exact same teacup I purchased in octobre from a charity shop! I spotted it several times as well, and of course, I was just so excited for no good reason, but still, it's a fun fact. I had to wait to get back to France to post any pictures of it because it's no longer with me in England.

Cute isn't it?

(In fact, by the time I finished this post, I saw the second movie as well. And I saw the teacup appear in an episode of NCIS Los Angeles. Seems popular...)

Let's get to the bottom of this!

After a little research, I learned this model is called "Old Country Roses" manufactured by Royal Albert and was first produced in 1972! You can still buy it today, though, so it doesn't feel so special anymore... Well, it's still beautiful! I got a chance to show you part of my budding collection, too!

Lolita Dessert Contest

During the holidays I participated in the EGL December Desserts contest. It was a lot of fun designing a cake and a friend came over to help me out, even my little brother joined in! Quite a mess but we ended up pretty satisfied with our work. We did encounter trouble with the gum paste which was never hard enough to sculpt and the food coloring which turned out purple instead of pink but we managed somehow. It is a quadruple layer cake (alternating chocolate and strawberry), with whipped cream and icing between layers, and covered in marzipan and gum paste and whipped cream. The pictures were taken at 3 in the morning so we merely whipped up a little setting for the cake. We took inspiration from Angelic Pretty's Heart Apron jsk since it seems to me to be a key item in the fashion. It just pops to my mind when I think lolita! Without further ado, here be the cake!
