Awakening of Spring

The spring equinox is just around the corner and I can't wait to celebrate! I hope tomorrow is a nice day so I can go for a bit of a walk and enjoy some nice and quiet time!

I've wrapped up my winter today and I just can't wait for the new year to be here (well, new season, but it always feels like new years' should be now).

I had a bit of fun making a headress for tomorrow, but I can only wear it and my outfit if the weather is clement, because the flowers are paper and the white lace of the dress is risky in muddy terrain.

Dress : Meta
Headress: Primark, enhanced with paper and fabric flowers,
and loads of ribbons :)

Oh, and I just went to get my new Baby dress at the post office yesterday; I am delighted! I had been eyeing that JSK on Closet Child for a while, and it cropped up on eBay for a third of the price, and shipped from France, so gave in...It is just so cute, without the print being overbearing. I am excited to wear this now!

Literally Sweet

It's finally here! The photoshoot from this Saturday (*edit* this was actually aaaaaages ago...*)  was amazing and so much fun! Leanne (you'll recognize her as the hostess of last year's tea party) and I paired up as models. Our makeup artist, Melissa, (and her housemates) was kind enough to let us borrow her living room for the day and we set it up according to the shoot's theme: candy! The day was long and a bit tiring but really rewarding. This is one of two shoots we did at the same time; the other was released on Halloween! The shoot was different from what we expected and even went out of hand when we had a marshmallow fight (and an awful indigestion after eating all the sweets on set...), but I do love the result!

Without further ado...

Coscraft Wig Review

I recently ordered a new fashion wig, this time from Coscraft!

I chose the light brown Cybele model, it really looked lovely for both lolita, hime, and mori.

  • Shipping/ Service/ Packaging

Every time I receive a wig via mail, I cringe at the sight of the parcel. It is always so slim that it seems the wig will never be as full as the reference picture makes it look. However, once again I was (thankfully) mistaken, and the wig was merely very well wrapped. Inside its cardboard box, it was neatly folded into a ziplock bag, and kept from tangling by the net.

Since Coscraft is based in England, the shipping rate was attractive (1£50) , and the speed as well. I needed this wig for the end of this week (surprise coming up!). I ordered Friday night, I believe, and it arrived this morning (because obviously the weekend was not working days).

I didn't have any reason to deal with service, so aside from the fact that it was quick and efficient, I can't judge much. That's enough for me to rate them 100% satisfying, though. Not having to deal with customer service means they were good right from the start!

  • Product/ Price
When I slipped the wig from its bag, I was pleasantly surprised to see it unfold and fall to its full lenggth, approximately 90cm. The fibre is so gorgeous! It flows like water, is soft and smooth, and looks exactly like real hair! I quickly tried it on; the length matches that of my real hair, the waviness as well, and the shine. You wouldn't know I was wearing a wig if you saw me, you just might assume I had bleached my own hair! I tried flashing with my camera the wig, there is no obnoxious shine either.

Without flash
With flash. See the difference? No? Thats 'cuz there's none.

The price is also very competitive - 23£ (24£ on eBay) -  as my Bodyline wig was approxiamtely the same price, but had additional shipping fees, and though I love it very much and it is neat, the fibers aren't nearly as fine. Thinking of it, where is that wig? It somehow disappeared... Guess I'll have to look for it behind my wardrobe or something...* Edit: Still can't find it! Aargh ><*

Sorry for the unedited photos, I just wanted to get this review up and avoid procrastinating

I am so satisfied with this wig, and I am definitely going to purchase again from Coscraft. One thing though; I was careless about research, so I got mine from their eBay shop, which is slightly more expensive than their website, so I'll buy from them directly next time. I also noticed that Light in the Box sells wigs using the same reference photo, so I don't know what the deal is there, maybe someone investigated already... In any case, I recommend going for Coscraft rather than LitB.

I just mentioned a little surprise coming up; wait for it! I'm really looking forward to it on Friday and Sunday, and I'll make sure to keep you updated about it!

I hope you all spent great holidays, as I did mine! I got to see my family and friends, and spend some quiet time resting and catching up on side projects. That would be decoden! Yes, I've finally put my order to use. I had work going on after I purchased from Fullmoon so I had to put things aside for a while. Actually, I also ordered a second time from Fullmoon during the holidays because my new project involved much, much more... I don't know of you can spy the red apple but it screamed of Applejack so I added it without any project in mind!I also really like the rhinestoned rose!

And at long last...my projects!!
I went just a little crazy with the caulk gun, I'll admit. I did start looking around my room, with my custom gun loaded, for anything that might be whipped-creamed. What I mean by custom gun is that instead of using a piping bag, I cut the tip of the silicon bottle in a star shape and used that directly. A lot less messy, but you need a sure aim; if your arm is wobbly or if it gets tired, the whole thing becomes a mess. I had to go through a few trials myself!

And the shoes! This was my top secret project. Alright, I'll own up: they did cost me a spectacular faceplant in the stret on the 31st, but it was really funny, even for myself. (I never wore heels this high before, but hopefully I'll get used to it because they are gorgeous!)

A few outfit posts which I've been too busy to post until now:

New Year's outfit

I would like to close this post with the usual new year speech. Last year has been great for me. Thanks to my studies I discovered so many new things and new people, all of which gave me confidence.  So wether I met them in real life or not ,whether they read this or not, I am very grateful to them. I certainly do have many concrete goals and aspirations for 2013, but I want to focus on doing my best everyday, little by little.

Happy New Year to you all, and all the best!

19/12 Outfit Post

I went back to high school today! O.O  Thankfully it was only as an alumni, to speak to the current students about my studies ;) I felt like wearing kimokawa (which was probably more approachable than lolita for students wanting to ask me questions...)

Holidays in style!

With all this cold weather, you might be thinking keeping up with the fashion is getting a little difficult. Fear not, here are a few style tips to help out!

  • Layer tights! I typically wear two pairs of tights (shear skin colored and printed/ colored ones on top), sometimes with an extra pair of socks on top of all that!
  • Bloomers are definitely your friend. So are petticoats. The more layers, the warmer!
  • Turlenecks. I already mentioned how I adore including them in my outfits. Not only are they warm, they are also very elegant, and give that poise and decency so dear to lolitas. Baby the Stars Shine Bright have adorable ones!
  • Once again, layers: beneath that turtlenck or your long-sleeved blouse, wear a camisole and long-sleeved undershirt
  • Boots
  • Mufflers, earmuffs, gloves, and hats! Berets are my favorite!
  • I also found very cute re-usable gel handwarmers. I slip one in each pocket of my coat and turn them on when I am having a long walk in the cold.

Time to talk about festive decorations! I incorporate lolita in every aspect of my life, so I decided to give our Christmas tree a Victorian makeover!

Santa's airplane!

Someday though I really really want a pink tree! How cute are these?
